Authentic Cuban food and the live band was incredible. The ropa vieja was the best I've had in Miami and the mojitos are huge. Right on Calle Ocho — the perfect Little Havana stop.

The place
Sala'o Cuban Restaurant & Bar is a Cuban and Caribbean restaurant on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, Miami, at 1642 SW 8th Street. The kitchen serves classics like ropa vieja, vaca frita, lechón asado, and whole fried snapper alongside mojitos and craft cocktails. Live Cuban music and salsa play nightly on the indoor stage and street-facing terrace. The dining room is open daily for lunch and dinner with extended weekend hours. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations can be made by phone or through the official website. Takeout and third-party delivery are available, and the restaurant sits within walking distance of Domino Park and the Tower Theater on Miami's main Cuban cultural corridor.
Sitting squarely on Calle Ocho in the heart of Little Havana, Sala'o channels old-Havana energy with a coastal twist. The dining room is anchored by a long mahogany bar, vintage Cuban photographs, and a stage where live bands and salsa dancers perform nightly. The open-air terrace looks straight onto SW 8th Street, making it a prime perch for people-watching during the Viernes Culturales art walk and Calle Ocho festival.
The menu leans into Cuban comfort food with a seafood-forward angle. Start with tostones rellenos or ham croquetas, then move to ropa vieja, vaca frita, or the house-favorite whole fried snapper served with moros and sweet plantains. Lechón asado, picadillo, and arroz con pollo round out the classics, and the bar pours generous mojitos, a strong Cuba Libre, and a respectable old fashioned. Save room for tres leches or flan.
Reservations are recommended on weekend nights when the live music draws a crowd, though walk-ins are seated quickly at the bar and patio. Street parking on SW 8th Street is metered, with a paid lot one block south on SW 9th Street. Takeout is available by phone, and delivery runs through Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub. The patio is dog-friendly and the venue regularly hosts private events and salsa nights.
What to expect
A lively Little Havana dining room with live Cuban music, a busy bar pouring mojitos, and a Calle Ocho-facing terrace. Expect classic Cuban plates — ropa vieja, vaca frita, lechón, whole fried snapper — at moderate prices, with weekend waits when the band starts.

What people are saying
Came for a birthday dinner and the staff brought out flan with a candle and the band played for us. Whole fried snapper was massive and crispy. We'll be back.
Sat on the terrace and watched the Calle Ocho crowd while eating vaca frita and sipping a Cuba Libre. Service was warm, prices fair, and the salsa dancers made the night.
