Great seafood right in downtown Tampa. The snow crab was steamed perfectly and the staff was super friendly. Loved the pirate ship in the middle of the dining room — kids were obsessed.

The place
Harpoon Harry's Crab House is a pirate-themed seafood restaurant and bar in Downtown Tampa at 225 S Franklin St, two blocks from the Tampa Riverwalk. The menu spans steamed snow crab, peel-and-eat shrimp, oysters, sushi, and steaks, reflecting an eclectic American-Japanese-seafood mix. The dining room features a full-scale pirate ship and large saltwater aquariums. Outdoor seating and a covered patio face Franklin Street, and the kitchen serves lunch through late-night daily. The restaurant is family-friendly, accepts walk-ins and reservations, and offers takeout. Validated parking is available in the Fort Brooke garage across the street. It holds a 4.3-star rating on Google from over 3,400 reviews.
Tucked into Downtown Tampa just steps from the Riverwalk, Harpoon Harry's Crab House is the kind of high-energy seafood joint that doubles as a sightseeing stop — a full pirate ship anchors the dining room, saltwater tanks line the walls, and the patio on Franklin Street stays loud through dinner. It's an easy walk from Amalie Arena, the Convention Center, and Sparkman Wharf.
Come hungry and order the snow crab clusters or the peel-and-eat shrimp by the pound, both house staples. The raw bar turns out fresh oysters and a surprisingly serious sushi menu — the Volcano Roll and Crab Rangoon Roll get repeat mentions in reviews. Landlubbers do well with the certified Angus ribeye, blackened mahi, or the loaded shrimp-and-grits.
Reservations are accepted and recommended for weekend dinner and event nights; walk-ins are common at lunch. The covered patio is dog-friendly. Park in the Fort Brooke garage directly across Whiting Street — the restaurant validates. Takeout is available by phone, and delivery runs through DoorDash and Uber Eats.

What people are saying
Went after a hockey game at Amalie and the kitchen was still cranking at 10pm. Volcano roll and peel-and-eat shrimp were both excellent. Patio is a fun spot for a drink.
Solid all-around menu — we did oysters, the steamer pot for two, and the key lime pie. Service was quick, prices fair for downtown. Parking validation in the garage across the street is a huge plus.
